2-18-06 DaddyO Dave bids "Farewell!" to Folk In A
After 5 highly successful years, two CDs and countless gigs, DaddyO Dave's "Farewell" performance was held at longtime Folk In A hangout, Towles Cafe, on February 18, 2006. DaddyO is leaving Folk In A for other musical pursuits. He can still be found playing at local San Jose acoustic and blues jams as well as with the hot jazz combo, Club D'Jive and San Francisco's instrumental Surf powerhouse, The Aquamarines. Continuing the tradition of Folk In A as the Bay Area's favorite acoustic folk blues combo along with guitarist, T-Bone Ted Kastelic, is drummer, Art "Stix" Chavez, who joined the band in Summer 2005 and Gary Rosen, who is adding his upright bass talents to the band. Folk In A is looking forward to another active year!

11-2-05 Folk In A debuts at JJ's Blues

Adding to our stable of famous venues, Folk In A had our debut performance at JJ's Blues, the famous long-time San Jose Blues juke joint, on November 2nd, 2005. We doused the place with our hot brand of acoustic blues.  Art "Stix" Chavez joined the band this summer on drums and is performing with us regularly. JJ's will be having us back again soon!

4-24-05 Folk In A releases second CD: Folk In A - LIVE at The Cats
Folk In A - LIVE at The Cats is now out! Our special guests, Dan “Mig” McLaughlin and Lisa "Lulu" Burns are on this album and we thank them for their superb performances.

"Mojo Mig" joined us on drums at our second CD Release party. Folk In A performed LIVE at The Blue Rock Shoot in Saratoga, CA . We want to thank the good folks at Firesign Entertainment for the opportunity to play at the newly renovated Blue Rock. We thank our good friend, folk artist Jerry Bresee, who joined us on acoustic guitar. We thank all our fans who came down to see us and pick up the new CD, which you can sample and purchase on our MUSIC page. We all had a great time and hope to back to the BRS again soon!

3-13-05 San Gregorio General Store - more guest stars!
Joining us for some vocal flavorings and the feminine touch was the ever-enchanting Ms. Lisa "Lulu" Burns. She joined us for a couple of Folk In A favorites like Mind-Readin' Blues and Dead Presidents. In addition, a new Folk In A fan, celebrating his 35th birthday, Mr. Jack Elder, popped up to play on his electric guitar with us. He joined us for a classic-style Honky Tonk Woman and some Robert Johnson blues. You see? You never know who'll join us at San Gregorio. It's a great acoustic venue!

3-1-05 Folk In A puts out LIVE Promo Sampler CD from The Cats

We have just finished a professionally mastered promo sampler CD with four cool songs on it from The Cats LIVE performance from 1/30/05.  And frankly, IT ROCKS!!  We'll be using it primarily for promotional purposes. BUT, if you want a copy of this demo, order it by contacting Linda Candler at lscan@earthlink.net  or come see us at a gig.  We'll give you one if you can convince us that you're going to use it to try and get us a gig.  We're suckers that way..hehe!

And stay tuned for the release of our new live CD - Folk In A - Live at Cat's. It's as good as it gets. Just ask one of the folks who were there.

1-30-05 LIVE CD Recording Session at The Cats, Los Gatos, CA

We hope to be ready for a CD Release party later this Spring, so stay tuned!

12-10-04 Folk In A releases first Christmas CD

We just couldn't resist the opportunity to give everyone a treat and our 2004 holiday message for the season on record. We handed these out as gifts on our December 10th gig at Towles Cafe in Burlingame. (If you didn't receive one, speak to us at one of our gigs and we'll get you one.)

Songs include: Sound Check, Jingle Bells, Silent Night, Miss Me When I'm Gone, Stoney Pony along with a studio tribute to our family, friends and fans as well as a dedication to our recently passed friend, Gentleman Jim Colvert, with Amazing Grace.

10-3-04 Folk In A makes its debut at the San Gregorio General Store
We had a great time at this renowned venue in the acoustic music circuit. If you missed us, sorry, but we were "ON"! Nice to play in a place without the extraneous distracting noises. In addition to our standard duo repertoire, your TBone and DaddyO were joined on stage for a hot little chicken pickin' jam by San Gregorio mainstay, Lane Murchison, of Lane and the BadAss Chickenbones. And also, from t
he world of Bluegrass, the lovely Yodeling Lady Lolita, who now in her 80's, still performs live with Earthquake County and Harmony Grits at Bluegrass Festivals around California. We backed her on her well-known vocal/yodeling rendition of "Cowboy's Sweetheart".

What a great time for Folk In A and our audience at the famous musician-owned jazz club, Club Jazz Nouveau, in San Francisco's Cannery district! We were graced on stage for this special performance by our CD recording pals and contributing musicians, Dan “Mig” McLaughlin from the Santa Cruz group, Word Of Mouth on drums, and by Lisa "Lulu" Burns from the long-time Bay Area bluegrass group, SideSaddle & Co. on arco bass and vocals. 2-14-04  The Folk In A General Store is Open!
TBone's newsletter for February:

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls that moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived. Yes indeedy, the Folk In A General Store is now open and ready to help you fill up on all those wonderful Folk In A items that you've needed to make your life complete. TBone and DaddyO have been burning the midnight oil to bring you an easy, effective way of acquiring those sexy, beautiful Folk In A T-shirts. Why just the other day I heard a beautiful Hollywood starlet remark "I just love a man in a FIA T-shirt". Well, OK I would have heard that if we had the big-time advertising budget in order to make that possible. So just image that you heard that and then go act like that made a difference to you and buy one. (I'm beginning to suspect that TBone needs a little marketing savvy included in his daily granola). OK, but what about the hats, you ask? Whoa boy do we have Folk In A hats! Nice white ones with that fashionable Folk In A logo embroidered on them (our fingers are still a little sore from all that sewing work, but they look mighty fine). And they make a nice way to top off your Folk In A ensemble. And at such reasonable prices ($15 each for T-shirts and hats) you can outfit the whole family. I can hear you saying, "You know, TBone, the hats and T-shirts sure have made the family look better. In fact, the kids are already more popular and their grades are improving. The wife and I have become the envy of the neighborhood too. But our refrigerator sure looks lonely, and all that scotch tape on the fridge is getting down right disgusting lookin' (not to mention sticky). Any chance you'd have an authorized FIA solution? " Well you know - we're all over that one. We've got very tasty Folk In A refrigerator magnets. Order a bunch of 'em. They're downright cheap and they are big enough to hold a whole bunch of pictures and coupons and newspaper clippings. And folks, these are no ordinary refrigerator magnets. No sireee. These magnets will actually stick to any metal object. And of course, what would you most like to do when you're sitting around the house all dressed up in your FIA T-shirts and hats, admiring your refrigerator magnets? Well you'd be listening to your very own Folk In A CD. Titled, appropriately enough, Folk In A. The CD is awesome. Includes guest appearances and they're selling like hotcakes. Fortunately for us they have a longer shelf life than hotcakes so you can still get a fresh one if you order now. All you need to do is go to www.folkina.com/music.html and you'll see the entire collection with easy ordering instructions. We hope you'll pay a visit soon and let us know how you like the stuff. Send us a photo of yourself or a favorite other (how politically correct was that!) in your FIA gear and we'll put it on our website so all your friends can see how cool you are no matter where they live. Ain't life grand? Glad to be sharing the planet with you and hoping to see you soon,

I'm TBone Ted and He's DaddyO Dave and together we are:
Folk In A!

TBone answers the question:
"So, when is that new Folk In A CD of yours coming out?"

Well, folks for the first time in Folk In A history (almost every day is a first for us), we have cover art for the new CD well ahead of the actual CD.

As the boys began plans this summer for their new CD, they realized that they also needed some cover art.  Well to the rescue comes their booking agent/manager extraordinaire, Linny Sue (she’s the one you get in touch with when you want us to come play for you).  She’s friends with this great artist who now lives in Paris.  Like in France.  His name is Doug Cushman, and he is a well known illustrator of children’s books.  It turns out that Doug is also a big fan of old country blues.  Well, he and TBone really hit it off and after seeing some photos of Bessie – TBone’s 1934 National he sent us back the painting you see below.  We like it so much we’ve started using it on posters and table tents.  And when the CD is finished that’s what the cover will look like. You can see it on our "MUSIC" page link.

“So, Boys! When is that new Folk In A CD going to be done and what’s going to be on it?”    Oh, My – good questions.  Well, TBone and DaddyO have laid down the basic tracks to about 12 new songs.  They are all original FIA tunes and many of them are among your favorites.  Once you hear them they will all be among your favorites, I’m sure.

TBone has been laboring in ToneHound Studios to mix, EQ, and sweeten all them tunes so’s they sound good.  Among the many treasures you’ll find are “Stand Up”,   Never Been Loved Like This Before,  Forever is a Long Long Time and Montana Skies. It’s hard to predict when a project like this will be done, but TBone seems to be feelin’ like it’ll be sometime in the next few months that we’ll either complete the work or run out of steam and declare it finished, just cause we really want to have a CD Release party real bad! Anyways, to wet your appetite for our new record, we'll be sure to post a few of these new tunes on our website. And of course, you can hear them LIVE at our performances, so be sure and stop by to tell us which ones you like!
